Dog Expert Witness services

With twenty-six years’ experience as a police dog instructor, trainer and handler, a pet behaviourist with a post-graduate diploma (level 7, with distinction) from 2002 to 2022, certification as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist from 2008 to 2022, including registration with the Animal Training and Behaviour Counsell as both a Clinical Animal Behaviourist and Expert Witness, former Chair of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (2009-12), lecturer on Newcastle University’s MSc in Animal Behaviour and Welfare from 2011-6, and having worked at the highest level with local and national charities helping to rehome problem dogs, David is ideally placed to offer expert witness services to solicitors and their clients.

If you are a solicitor seeking an expert witness in dog behaviour of any kind, you can contact David here. If you would like to discuss a case prior to instruction David is very happy to offer a short conversation free of charge if you contact him by telephoning 07734 446158 at any reasonable time.

If you have not yet consulted a solicitor David can recommend a specialist in dangerous dog legislation for you.

In cases involving alleged dangerous dogs David will see the dog and can make a complete assessment of both the dog’s type and behaviour, which is video recorded for evidence. David will examine all the evidence provided, take a complete history and interpret the assessment and dog’s behaviour in a fully referenced report and supporting DVD that complies with the Criminal Procedure Rules.

In some criminal and most civil cases it is not always possible or necessary to see the dog, but David can provide a similarly fully referenced report that complies with the Civil Procedure Rules Part 35, its practice direction and the Protocol for Instruction of Experts to give Evidence in Civil Claims, through the same thorough examination of all the evidence provided.
